Leila Fonseca
Brazilian Institute for Space Research (INPE)

Graduated in Electrical Engineering, Master of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the Technological Institute of Aeronautics and Ph.D. in Applied Computing at the National Institute for Space Research, Brazil. She is currently a senior researcher and the Director of Earth Observation at the Brazilian Institute for Space Research (INPE), Brazil. She has been working in various activities that include participation in important technological projects, such as the CBERS Program, participation in international organizations and committees such as CEOS (Committee on Earth Observation Satellites) and also Coordinator of the Latin American Society of Specialists in Remote Sensing (SELPER) for 10 years. She has been Head of the Image Processing Division ( DPI ) at INPE from 2011 to 2013. She has experience in computer science, with emphasis on Digital Image Processing, acting on the following topics: applications in remote sensing, signal processing, image processing, radiometric correction of satellite images, multi-resolution and multi-temporal analysis, Geographic Object-based Image Analysis (GEOBIA), and data mining.
